Your weight is measured in pounds and the height is calculated in inches. For instance, if your weight is 140 lbs and height is 62″, then your BMI is calculated in this way

(140/ (62)2) * 703 = 25.60

The Body Mass index below 18.5 is categorized as underweight. The BMI in between 18.5 and 24.9 is normal and BMI ranging from 25.0 to 29.9 is considered as overweight category. The BMI more than 30.0 is categorized as obesity.

The weight loss diet chart should be used as a tool to reduce your overweight problem. You need to remember that each person has a different body composition, so a perfect weight for one person may be considered as too thin or obese by another person. The weight loss diet chart is based on people aged twenty years and above. It is prepared on the basis that a person is dressed in light clothing and without shoes.

Age is an important factor that determines the correct weight of a person. Some people would stay fit in their fifties, but they might be heavier in their twenties. It is advisable to use separate weight loss diet chart for male and female, as the bone mass is larger in men and weighs more. The chart for children and teen Bone Mass Index needs to include the date of birth, gender, height measured to the fractions of an inch, weight measured to the fraction of a pound etc.
