Here are a few things that you will need, and need to know, before you embark on your calorie shifting diet cycle.

Mindset– The proper mindset is a vital component in the success of any endeavor, and that certainly includes fat loss. It’s a good idea to spend some time thinking of the benefits, to you, of losing weight. Stand in front of a mirror and imagine the image that you would like to see looking back at you. Write down your weight loss goals on a piece of paper and tape it to your refrigerator or other obvious place. Read it every morning and motivate yourself to have a good fat loss day.

The calorie shifting cycle is only 11 days, much shorter than with most diet plans, but even that can seem a long time when those around you are enjoying great food without restrictions. So it is a good idea to fortify yourself with a positive mindset.

Support– Talk to your family, friends, and workmates. Explain to them that you want to lose weight and ask for their support. Ask that they not tempt you unnecessarily, or try to get you to cheat with the old “aw, just one won’t hurt you” ploy. Tell them that you will get a break from your regimen in just 11 days, and then you can join them and eat whatever you want.

Preparation– Look over the daily menu for your upcoming calorie shifting diet cycle. Make sure that there is no food on it that you are allergic or intolerant of. Then make a grocery list and go shopping!

You can eat the menu items in any order during the day, so try to schedule the ones that are easy to prepare for times when you can’t actually cook. For example, you can take fruit, nuts, bread, etc. to work. If you are fortunate enough to have access to a refrigerator and microwave at your job, the list of items that you can eat for lunch is much larger. As an example, you can now buy bacon strips that you can prepare in the microwave at 10 seconds per slice. (I have tried them, and they are very good, but a little expensive.)

Perspective– The calorie shifting fat loss method does not require exercise, but I encourage you to do some cardio and resistance exercise each week, or be active in some way. It’s good for your heart. Besides, no matter how thin you become, you will not look that great in your swimsuit without good muscle tone.

If you just need to drop a few pounds to look better for the summer, you may only need one or two calorie shifting diet cycles. If you are embarking on a major fat loss project, calorie shifting could get you off to a good start, or you could use it to break out of a plateau. Don’t think of this fat loss method as the “diet to end all diets:, just use it as another tool in your weight loss arsenal.
